Cameroon pays tribute to Amobe Mevegue, journalist icon and Ambassador of African cultures

About twenty Cameroonian artists took turns on the stage of the Yaoundé convention center this Thursday, September 23, 2021 from 7 p.m. to commemorate the memory of the famous Cameroonian journalist and man of culture, Amobe Mevegue.

At the Congress Palace in Yaoundé this Thursday, September 23, 2021, the tribute evening was held in honor of Alain Amobe Mevegue, who died in France on September 8 of illness.

To pay tribute to him, artists, men of the media, politicians; members of the government, followed one another on the podium.

In the process, Grégoire Owona, Minister of Labor and Social Security, also Deputy Secretary General of the Central Committee of the CPDM, party in power, drew up the moral portrait of the deceased in these terms: “He considered me a big brother , he was certainly a star as we have said but it was a shooting star. Amobe has done and fulfilled its mission, ”he said.

Since the former Rfi journalist, TV5, France 24 valued his culture, Gérard Essomba, a film actor, did not miss a word to speak of him: “Everything was modesty at home, even his dress. I loved him like my own son, ”said the latter.

Grégoire Piwele quite simply recognized the titanic work done by the native of Nkolbogo I during his lifetime: “Amobe belonged to the whole of Cameroon, he was a great man, let’s applaud him“, he urged.

The colleague will be buried tomorrow in his native village in the presence of his family, colleagues, political, religious and administrative authorities. May his soul Rest in Peace.
