The results of the electoral registration campaign were made on September 1, 2021 by the Chief Electoral Officer, Erik Essousse, during a press briefing in Yaoundé.

The national electoral register has been enriched with new registrants. At the end of the voter registration campaign which officially ended on August 31, 2021, more than 100,000 new voters were enrolled by the teams of Elections Cameroon (ELECAM), the body in charge of the organization of the elections. Elections Cameroon (Elecam) announces that it has already registered 7,058,122 voters on the electoral lists. That is exactly 182,913 new registrations for this year, among which:

  • 116,631 men, or 65.79%;
  • 66,282 women, or 34.21%;
  • 131,778 young people, or 72.04%;
  • 187 disabled people, or 0.09%.

While far from exceptional, these figures are still well above those recorded last year at the same time. In fact 167,836 more citizens were registered in 2021, an increase of 91.76% compared to last year’s campaign. Thanks to these new registrations, the electoral register now has 7,058,122 potential voters.

This quantified assessment was detailed on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, by Erik Essousse, the Chief Electoral Officer. It was during a press briefing, during which he invited voters who had already registered and had not yet withdrawn their electoral cards, to come and collect them from the various communal offices of Elections Cameroon.
