They returned the banner of their mission to the headquarters in Yaoundé on October 12, 2021 after a year of mission.
The 750 soldiers of the 7th Cameroonian contingent of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (Minusca) were officially received this Tuesday in Yaoundé by the Minister of Defense, Joseph Beti Assomo. It was during a standard handing-over ceremony at Headquarters.
After a year for the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA), the 7th contingent of Cameroonian soldiers is back. The ritual was therefore respected as on the outward journey, when the latter had received the banner from the hands of the Minister of Defense on September 15, 2020 at the Place d’Armes of the Pre-deployment training center of Motcheboum, in the East Region .
This 7th contingent was made up of 1150 men including 750 soldiers, 280 gendarmes, police units and military observers. We do not yet know if all have returned alive. But on the eve of their departure, MINDEF had asked them to do everything possible to make the Cameroonian army shine in the Central African Republic (CAR).
The 7th contingent has been replaced by an 8th which has officially been deployed since September 14th. It is made up of 1070 men and is commanded by Colonel Vincent Pehuie.
