The Indomitable Lionesses remain at the 52nd position and remain the second best nation on the continent behind Nigeria.

FIFA published last Thursday, June 24, 2021, its ranking of the best nations in women’s football. Recently eliminated from the Olympic Games by Chile, Cameroon is in 52nd position, the same place as in the last ranking, published in April.

The Indomitable Lionesses remain the second best selection on the continent, behind the Nigeria Super Falcons, ranked 38th. The continental hierarchy is completed by South Africa (55th), Ghana (59th) and Côte d’Ivoire (61st). Globally, the Americans are still at the top of the rankings. The world champions are ahead of Germany and France.

The publication of this new ranking comes as the African Football Confederation has decided to postpone the start of the qualifying campaign for the next women’s CAN, whose final phase is scheduled in Morocco from July 2 to 23, 2023.

These qualifiers were to begin this month of June. “The first round of the qualifiers for the Total Women’s CAN will now take place during FIFA’s international window from October 18 to 26, 2021, while the second round will take place from February 14 to 23, 2022“, indicates the body that manages the football in Africa.
