This project will see the light of day in 2024 with the aim of improving healthcare provision throughout the national triangle.

In 2024, the Ministry of Public Health plans to undertake a comprehensive assessment of health facilities across the country at the next Hospitals Conference. Manaouda Malachie, head of the ministry, plans to use this opportunity to analyze in depth the situation of health facilities. The objective, as communicated by the ministry, is to identify the main needs and priorities of these establishments while the process of transferring health responsibilities to decentralized local authorities is underway.

Problems facing hospitals will be on the agenda

It is well known that the lack of financing constitutes one of the main obstacles to the development of the health system in Cameroon, as highlighted in the Health Sector Strategy 2016-2027. This problem has become more acute with the global financial crises, which have restricted sources of external financing, and the reduction in funds allocated by certain donors. In addition, the poverty of the populations also contributes to limiting the financial resources available to health establishments.

Let us recall that the Cameroon Hospitals Conference is an annual meeting bringing together the country’s health professionals to discuss the challenges, progress and pressing problems of the national health system.
