Tickets of 5 000, 2 000, 1 000 and 500 in the current range since 2002 will be gradually destroyed once collected by the Bank of Central African States (BEAC).
This is what we learn from a circular of January 5, 2024 signed by the Director General of the Operation of the BEAC. According to this circular, the BEAC will “serve only tickets from the 2020 range during public banks and accounting samples“. And this measure should have taken effect since January 2, 2024. An extension of life seems to have been granted to cuts of 10 000. This post is not automatically replaced, but transferred to the reserve and destruction funds.
It was in November 2022 that the BEAC announced the entry into circulation of a new range of tickets to the Economic Community of Central African States. In the same vein, the sub – regional financial institution had communicated the calendar of gradual withdrawal of the old ranges of tickets. The entry into force of a new range of tickets signed the death of older ranges, like the 1992 ranges whose demonetization was to start in March 2023. Let us remember that the BEAC issues a new range of tickets both decades.
