Anthony Pla takes exception to the fact that images of Idriss Carlos Kameni and Tenor are circulating on the web

by Theophile

In a free forum shared on social networks on Saturday July 17, 2021, the sports journalist strongly condemns the publication on the web, shocking images relating to road accidents suffered by the artist Tenor and the former Cameroonian international Idriss Carlos Kameni.

The convoy of Cameroonian footballer Idriss Carlos Kameni crashed on the Bangangté road in the western region. The tragedy, which occurred last Friday, July 16, 2021, involved one death. This is a certain Ndiki Nicodeme.

Long before this tragedy, the unbearable images of Cameroonian artist musician Tenor made the buzz on social networks. The rapper was the victim of a road accident on Thursday July 15 in Douala. The tragedy occurred at a place called Carrefour feu rouge Bessengue.

Commenting on these news, the French journalist Anthony Pla takes exception to the fact that the images of Idriss Carlos Kameni and of Ténor are going around the web: “In no case should these images come out and circulate,” he argues.

On this subject, he wrote this in his Facebook page, I would like to appeal to the media and to the people, to the population: “When these things happen we always see photos, videos running and whatnot. is not correct like what we saw for the artist Tenor in the hospital. Under no circumstances should these images come out and circulate. It is an invasion of privacy and intimacy. Ethically this is not correct. We fall into extreme voyeurism. », Criticizes the journalist.

When Eriksen collapsed at the Euro in front of the whole world, Danish players were praised for surrounding him and keeping him out of prying eyes by also taking flags so people couldn’t see the care given to him. It is also called medical and professional secrecy.

When people share these images, they forget what it can do to families and loved ones who are left behind and forgotten in their shock !! If something like this happened to me, I wouldn’t want my 4 year old son to see his pictures and be shocked for life, I would like him to remember me as I was. Some don’t care about the consequences.

This is not a matter of freedom of the press or freedom of expression. As journalists, we have rights but also and ESPECIALLY duties (Munich charter) with numbers 4 & 5 supposed to protect the people mentioned here:

4 – Not to use unfair methods to obtain information, photographs and documents.

5 – Make an effort to respect people’s privacy.

Just because some people are considered public does not mean that you can afford everything and show everything, photograph everything or share everything. I want to convey all my respect, thoughts and prayers to the victims, the missing, their loved ones and their families.

And I would also like the people who took these photos, those who relayed and shared them, to apologize in all humility. I call on the population to remove these clichés they receive on social media and to respond to those who send them to tell them that these practices must stop. We can give and transmit information, but we must not exceed these limits.

That we find the sense of values, the sense of modesty because respect has disappeared. At the end of the day, we are all women and men in the simplest device.

I‘ll end on that: “your freedom ends where that of others begins. Before you want to change the world, start by changing yourself ”

Nothing to do with Cameroon in particular (which I did not mention). I took a recent example but it’s global. We see it everywhere and we must first think about loved ones, families and the consequences it can have on them.
