An 8th contingent of 320 Cameroonian soldiers will be deployed in September 2021 in the Central African Republic

At the end of their retraining at the law enforcement skills training center in Awae, on August 14, they received a visit from Lieutenant General Daniel Sidiki Traoré, commander of Minusca.

180 soldiers will be based in Bangui, the capital and 140 others in Bouar, the second largest city in the Central African Republic. At the end of their retraining at the training center in law enforcement techniques in Awae, the 320 Cameroonian soldiers received a visit from Lieutenant General Daniel Sidiki Traoré, commander of the Multidimensional Integrated Mission of Nations, on August 14 United for Stabilization in the Central African Republic (Minusca).

After a simulation of a peacekeeping operation between demonstrators and law enforcement forces, General Daniel Sidiki Traoré expressed confidence in the readiness of Cameroonian troops made up of gendarmes, soldiers and police. He reminded them that they will not be resting upon their arrival in the Central African Republic.

After six weeks of training, the instructors said, the 320 soldiers are already ready for peacekeeping in the Central African Republic as of next September. They constitute the 8th Cameroonian contingent deployed in this neighboring country.

It was on May 11 that Cameroon received military equipment in preparation for the 8th deployment of its contingent. Received at the Douala air base and sent to Motcheboum, this equipment consists of 46 vehicles including 9 armored vehicles and 43 trailers forming part of an overall order of 33 armored vehicles, 60 heavy vehicles, 43 light vehicles, 72 trailers , 24 generators and military equipment for individual or collective use.

Since July 5, Cameroonian soldiers of the Minusca have received training of trainers on the use of newly acquired equipment. The Minusca, whose mandate runs until November 15, 2021, has more than 11,000 troops, including 1,030 provided by Cameroon. Its priority missions are the protection of civilians, good offices and support for the peace process.
