Guest of ABK Matin on August 12, 2021, Hervé Emmanuel Nkom spoke about the beating inflicted on transgender Skakiro as well as the arrest of Rebecca Enonchong in Douala.

Loïc Midrel Njuekam, alias Shakiro the most prominent transgender in Cameroon was copiously molested by strangers on the evening of August 8, 2021 in Douala in the economic capital of Cameroon. This situation has shocked some NGOs and human rights defenders like Me Alice Nkom who announces a complaint.

Reacting to this news, the member of the Central Committee of the CPDM, Hervé Emmanuel Nkom said that there is no provision which states that one must beat up someone who is different: “the difference is an asset“. “Regarding the violence on Shakiro, there is no provision that says you have to beat up someone who is different. The difference is a wealth, ”said the columnist of Abk radio on August 12, 2021.

On the same set, the banker by training ruled on the arrest of Charles and Rebecca Enonchong, the 54-year-old Cameroonian entrepreneur based in the United States, arrested by elements of the national gendarmerie in Douala for “contempt of magistrates ”in the morning of Tuesday, August 10, 2021.

Asked about this affair on ABK radio, Hervé Emmanuel Nkom demands the entrepreneur’s release: “Speaking of the Charles and Rebecca Enonchong affair, they are both children of a famous lawyer and they know the business well law. Rebecca’s place is not in prison. But everyone has to obey the law, that’s what keeps us safe, ”said the politician.
