According to corroborating sources, the accident occurred on Sunday, September 5, 2021.

After several months of vacation, students from all regions of Cameroon returned to school on Monday, September 6, 2021. In the South-West region, this first day of the start of the school year was marked by a serious traffic accident that occurred in Tiko, a town located in the Fako division.

According to the elements in our possession, the vehicle of a private individual collided with a “Toyota Picnic” having on board, 6 people. The shock was so violent that the driver of the Toyota died “on the spot”.

Looking through the footage of this accident, we see that the vehicles were damaged. The Defense forces came to the scene to rescue the victims, rushed to hospital for treatment.

It should be noted that the causes of accidents on the main roads are numerous. According to the authorities, drivers participate in reducing road deaths by respecting the highway code, driving at a reasonable speed.

However, transport unionists deplore the condition of the roads which are degraded in many places and even very narrow in others.

In either case, solutions must be found to stop these tragedies. This is the goal that the road safety teams have set for themselves at the start of the school year.
