Obituary: Professor Enow Tanjong, is no more

The illustrious academician, presented by his former students from the University of Buea, as “the pope of journalism” in Cameroon, died yesterday Saturday, October 29, 2022 in Yaoundé following illness.

The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Buea, in the South West Region, has just lost one of its founding fathers.

Enow Tanjong was not a practicing journalist. But, he was presented as “the pope of journalism” in Cameroon by his former students of the department of journalism and mass communication at the University of Buea. “He is the founding father of JMC at UB. Enow Tanjong is selfless, jovial, generous, and hyper-intelligent. Today, I celebrate the Prof, not only as my former teacher, but also as a father, the pope of Cameroonian journalism,” declared the young journalist René Katché, in a message of congratulations addressed to Professor Enow Tanjong for his appointment to the within the CNC in June 2021.

A native of Fotabe in the South West Region, academic, writer and communication researcher, Enow Tanjong retired in 2020, before being appointed the following year as a member of the CNC by decree of the President of the Republic. , Paul Biya.
