According to the administrative authority, the North West Lawyers Association “operated illegally” and held undeclared meetings. This is the quintessence of Order No. 70/2021 dated Thursday, September 9, 2021.
In this decree, the prefect of Mezam prohibits any public meeting organized by members of the Northwest Lawyers Association within his administrative unit.
The text states that “on the date of signing of this decree, a certain group called the North West Lawyers Association is prohibited from holding any public meeting in the Bamenda II subdivision”.
Nicolas Nkongho Manchang, notes that the North West Lawyers Association “operated illegally” and held undeclared meetings. The administrative authority warns that any group of people who violate this decree will be sanctioned in accordance with the provisions of the regulations in force.
The decree of the prefect of Mezam further states that, “The brigade commander of Ntarinkon, the commissioner (…), the district police are each in their respective powers responsible for the strict application of this decree“.
