Cameroonian singer André-Marie Tala is celebrating 55 years of his musical career, baptised “Avec vous”.
The artist announced this during a press conference on October 14, 2024 in Douala. On this occasion, he is organizing two shows, on October 25 at the Best Western Hotel in Douala, and on November 1 at the Palais des Congrès in Yaoundé. “It will be an opportunity for conviviality, exchanges with those who love music, beautiful melodies and particularly the journey of André-Marie Tala through his works,” said the 74-year-old artist.
André-Marie Tala promises to revisit his rich repertoire of around ten albums and to give the best of himself. He will be accompanied on stage by artists from several generations: the less young like Prince Ndedi Eyango, Annie Anzouer, Isnebo, as well as young people such as Stanley Enow, Krys-M, Kareyce Fotso “to share the emotions and tell them that they can always count on me as long as I am alive.” A master class is planned for October 16 at the La Chaumière cabaret in Douala to introduce the youngest to the fundamentals of music. A sports walk is also scheduled for October 19 at the Parcours Vita in Douala, as well as humanitarian actions in a social center in Yaoundé.
Blind since the age of 15, André-Marie Tala has transcended his disability into “opportunities that have allowed me, thanks to work, to be recognized throughout the world.” The author of the hit song “Je vais à Yaoundé”, released in 1975, still demands recognition from this city that he has honored throughout the world.
