This is what emerges from a communiqué signed by the Minister of State, Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic, on October 8. Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh informs that a vaccination campaign against Covid-19 is planned “from” this Monday, October 11 at the Presidential Palace located in the Etoudi district, in Yaoundé.

The hardening of the tone coming from the Presidency of the Republic is by no means trivial. Last August, the Head of State, Paul Biya called on his peers in the Central Africa sub-region to work to strengthen the mobilization in favor of vaccination campaigns against Covid-19 in their respective countries.
Indeed, the President of the Republic, at the opening of the virtual extraordinary summit of the Heads of State of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC) had declared, “Despite the limits of our health and our infrastructure in this area, we have globally succeeded in containing too great a spread of the coronavirus. We have thus been able to preserve many human lives. However, we must remain vigilant and mobilized. Because, this health crisis continues. We will have to continue together and with determination, the crucial phase of the fight against this virus by vaccination, ”he advised.
According to Stop Blabla Cam, a vaccination campaign against the coronavirus began on October 11, 2021 at the Presidential Palace in the Etoudi’s Quarter, Yaoundé 1 Sub Division, Mfoundi department, Center region.
It should be remembered that Cameroon recorded its first cases of Covid-19 on March 6, 2021. On April 12, the members of the government, foremost among whom, Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute, showed the good example, by making themselves vaccinate.
The AstraZeneca, Sinopharm and later Johnson & Johnson vaccines administered to citizens are “voluntary” and not “mandatory”, the authorities clarified.
According to official data, only 133,531 people have been fully vaccinated in Cameroon since vaccination began on April 12. This corresponds to only 1% of the target population, according to the Expanded Program on Immunization (Pev).
