Cameroon-Xavier Messè: “I see that Maurice Kamto preferred ” Liberation ” to speak. Just like Paul Biya always chooses France 24 or Rfi ”

Xavier Messe

Director of publication of the newspaper Le Calame, he denounces the way of doing, of the president of the Cameroon Ressance Movement (CRM) which privileges certain French media to the detriment of the Cameroonian media.

n the columns of the French newspaper, the director of the publication of Le Calame regrets that the head of state Paul Biya and the opposition leader Maurice Kamto, national president of the Movement for the Renaissance of Cameroon (Mrc) prefer to be express in foreign rather than local media.

Maurice Kamto, the president of the Movement for the Renaissance of Cameroon (Mrc) and former unsuccessful presidential candidate in October 2018 is currently in France. He also took part in the concert of one of his activists, the rapper Valsero on September 18, 2021. The latest news from the opponent is the big interview he has just given to the French newspaper Liberation.

A fact that revolts the journalist and editor Xavier Messe. In an output on his Facebook page, this Tuesday, September 28, 2021, Xavier Messe published an excerpt from Kamto’s interview with Liberation and deduced that the politician gives more credit to French newspapers than to Cameroon.

Below, the text by Xavier Messè:

ALL THE COUNTRY IS IN DELICACY

“Very popular, but never received at the Quai d´Orsay, the leader of the main opposition party, Maurice Kamto, paints a worrying picture of the situation in his country. For a year, at least 124 activists of his party languish in prison. Maurice Kamto is, however, the leader of the main opposition party in Cameroon.

He would likely have won the October 2018 presidential election, peppered with crass fraud. Having entered politics late, this former senior official was himself imprisoned, then placed under house arrest. Despite this constant repression, he persists in following a peaceful path, in a country torn by the presence of Islamist groups in the north and secessionist in the west. While the international community, and particularly France, seems too often inactive in the face of this explosive situation, Liberation met him during his visit to Paris last week.

What is the situation in Cameroon today?

Extract from the Maurice Kamto interview

My reaction :
Since last June, I had sent an interview protocol to the head of state to be published in the weekly Le Calame, of which I am the editor. I’m still waiting for the answer.

Two months ago, I wrote to Maurice Kamto requesting an interview to be published in the same newspaper. I was not entitled to an acknowledgment of receipt. I see that Maurice Kamto preferred Liberation to speak. Just like Paul Biya always chooses France24 or Rfi to speak. Good to know.
