It occupies 940th place and is the only academic institution in French-speaking black Africa to appear in this international ranking with an overall score of 40.5 points out of 100.

Indeed, 1,750 universities, from the United States and more than 90 other countries, are in competition. These institutions have been ranked on the basis of 13 indicators that measure their university research performance and their global and regional reputation, we learn.

At the African level, the University of Yaoundé I is in 31st place out of 66 African universities competing, 12 of which are not ranked. It shares this position with Mohammed V University in Rabat (Morocco).

The first African institution to appear in this ranking is the University of Cape Town in South Africa ranked 109th in the world rankings with an overall score of 70 out of 100 points.

South Africa occupies the top 3 in Africa, while Egypt is the most represented country on the continent with 22 universities listed by US News & World Report.

“Students can use these rankings to explore higher education options that exist beyond the borders of their own countries and to compare key aspects of school research assignments that may be of interest to them,” writes the US magazine.
