Action for Respect for Human Rights and Human Dignity (Ardhu), an NGO based in Maroua which monitors the security situation in the Far North region, has just released a report on attacks by armed groups in the said region.

According to the document, during the month of April 2024, 54 people were kidnapped in this region by armed men. The report does not specify where these various kidnappings took place or whether there were any releases.

The phenomenon of kidnappings with demands for ransoms is still present in the northern regions of Adamaoua, the North and the Far North. In a recent report, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reveals that since January 2024, 42 people have been kidnapped by armed men in the division of Logone-et-Chari alone, region of the Far North. It is one of the divisions most affected by Boko Haram attacks.
Furthermore, the NGO Ardhu reveals that during the month of April, at least 34 people were killed in various attacks. Among these people, Cameroonian civilians and soldiers were killed by armed men from the Boko Haram sect, but also militants eliminated during army operations.
