Simon Emile Mooh, the SDO of the Mezam department in the North-West region, reported in a press release on February 4 the circumstances of the attack carried out by armed separatists on the construction site of a bridge in the city of Bamenda.
According to the SDO, the attack took place on February 4 at around 10 a.m. at a place called La Chance Bridge, when several “armed terrorists” attacked a team of workers belonging to Edge Company, a construction company. During this assault, Komta Elyse, one of the workers of Edge Company, was killed.
The SDO recalled that this Edge Company team had been mobilized by the Bamenda city hall to remove the remains of the bridge that had collapsed last year. This was in order to build a new bridge.
Despite a decrease in attacks observed for several months in the crisis-ridden regions of the North-West and South-West, attacks are often recorded here and there. The army continues its operations against separatist groups. On January 18, three armed separatists were surprised and killed by the army in Nkwen, a town not far from the city of Bamenda.
