For the president of Manidem, the leader of the MRC participated in several elections as a member of the government.

Three years later, the elections of October 7, 2018 are still the subject of debate in the media. One of the main figures of the poll, Prof Maurice Kamto, national president of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement (Mrc), has often been subject to criticism as much as he is of the regime in power.

Guest on ABK radio on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, Anicet Ekane, returned to this election so contested by the leader of the MRC. He reveals that it was not the first time that Maurice Kamto has participated in a presidential election in Cameroon. Quite the contrary. “I saw that Maurice Kamto was in the CPDM elections long before the 2018 elections because he was a member of the government,” he said.

Regarding the marches, a phenomenon that has cost the imprisonment of several political leaders, the president of the African Movement for New Independence and Democracy (Manidem) believes the initiators must review the method by focusing on the population with its needs .

The neophytes in politics have come to create disorder. They announce a march while staying in their air-conditioned offices, while the most important thing here is to mobilize the population. The important element of a march is not the authorization of demonstration, it is the capacity to mobilize the populations on the fundamental problems (education, health …) which strengthens the hand. It is fair game that the government bans opposition demonstrations. Moreover, this is the case in the great Western democracies, ”suggested the survivor of the Covid-19.
