Activist quits PURS and accuses Matomba of killing party ideals at the expense of personal and selfish interests

by Theophile
Serge Espoir Matomba

After two years of activism within the Purs, Ekath Fidel Legentil left the ranks of Serge Espoir Matomba’s party on the grounds of “personal and selfish interests”.

“Personal and selfish interests”; this is the motive that Ekath Fidel Legentil brandishes for leaving the ranks of the United People for Social Renovation (PURS) after two years of activism.

This is the main information contained in the resignation letter that reached our editorial staff on Monday, August 2, 2021, and the content of which is as follows:

Yaoundé on August 2, 2021

Ekath Fidel Legentil

Former Mayor of Ndikinimeki candidate

Head of the PURS Mincipale list of February 9, 2020

To the First National Secretary of the United People for Social Renovation

Douala-Cameroon

Subject: Letter of resignation.

Mr. First National Secretary,

I hereby come to notify you with immediate effect of my resignation from the United People for Social Renovation and all its activities.

Indeed, it is with joy and happiness that I adhere voluntarily on September 19, 2019 to the ideals of the Pure.

This membership of a convinced and committed activist allowed me to lead the list of the PURS in the last municipal election of February 9, 2020 in the constituency of Ndikinimeki against the great Democratic Rally of the Cameroonian People, losing this election by having achieved a historic score ( 40.88 for the PURS against 59.12 for the CPDM) and congratulations from our opponents in the constituency.

Today, party ideals have given way to personal and selfish interests, which is why I am presenting my resignation to you.

While wishing good luck to your party, receive Mr. First National Secretary the expression of my highest consideration.

Good reception

Ekath Fidel Legentil

Head of the list PURS Ndikinimeki
